9:00 a.m. Departure from the hotel. The city sightseeing tour is the highlight of the trip, because this is where you’ll learn everything about Singapore—its past and present. First, we’ll take a tour of the old town, or the colonial heart of Singapore. We’ll show you Singapore’s most significant historic buildings: the Supreme Court, City Hall, St. Andrew’s Cathedral, and the historic Raffles Hotel. Next, we’ll visit Singapore’s symbol—the Merlion, a mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish. As we drive through downtown Singapore, you’ll see architectural masterpieces from the late 20th and early 21st centuries: the Esplanade Theater by the Bay, the Raffles Place skyscrapers, and the famous Marina Bay Sands hotel. Next, we’ll visit a Chinese Buddhist temple dedicated to the Future Buddha and stroll through the streets of Chinatown. Today, Chinatown is a neighborhood of historic houses, shops, and ultra-modern offices, tea houses, and pubs. Our tour will conclude on the city’s main shopping street, Orchard Road—a street lined with shops and restaurants. Here you can do all the shopping you need, as Singapore is rightly considered a shopper’s paradise. We’ll return to the hotel around 1:00 p.m.
