Description
3:00 am - check-out from the hotel. The morning safari is the most popular as more animals can be seen in the morning. The drive to Minneriya Park takes about 3 hours. The jeep safari starts at 6:00 am (duration 2-3 hours). The main attraction of Minneriya Park, which attracts tourists, are elephants, of which there are more than 400 individuals. Besides elephants, the park is home to leopards, wild buffalos, deer, bears, crocodiles, varanas and porcupines. And also 150 species of birds: hanging parrots, flamingos, pelicans, peacocks, Ceylon frogmouth, Ceylon jungle fowl (the national bird of Sri Lanka). At 9:00 am end of safari and drive back to the hotel. Around 13:00 - return to the hotel.
